Buenos Aires

Today I flew into Buenos Aires. The day did not start out well due to the airlines leaving one of my bags in Atlanta. I was told it will be at the airport when I fly out tomorrow.

The day went by very quickly and I tried to see as much as possible. Buenos Aires is a very large and beautiful city. When I disembarked from the plane, it actually reminded me of another country I lived in...Taiwan. Both countries are very green and have that slight mildew sent that is present in places that are very humid.

After checking in at the hotel, I headed out into the streets to capture the feel of the area around the hotel. One thing you notice immediately, is the European influence in the architecture. The area I'm staying in also seems to be a shopping district for clothes and electronics. The streets are full of people and the nights are bursting with activity. The shopping area also attracts visitors from all over the world. The Argentinian people are very nice and friendly.

I was told that Argentina is famous for their beef, so tonight I had a thick sirloin steak. The waiter suggested the sirloin over the fillet, because in his opinion, "the flavor is much better." It was also a very large cut. The dollar exchange rate vs. the peso is at 3.6:1 so food is fairly reasonable.

My team will like this picture, it is an add I found for HP using the Fergie spot.

A night market is full of all sorts of activity. One can find music, food and various items for sale. Ballroom dancing is very popular here. At the market there were three couples putting on a demonstration for the crowd. I also found a man who was playing the Pan Flute. This is a flute that is made up of varying lengths of bamboo. If you have never had a chance to listen to this music, take some time. It has a high Andean sound and feel. The musician's name is Raymi.

I bought one of his CDs you can find his music at http://www.raymi-music.com/.

I've put together a video that quickly captures the day. However, I'm having technical difficulties uploading.
